Meet Team UBER

The UBER project team represents a wealth of expertise and experience in restoration and renovation of historic and modern structures. Our abilities in construction and restoration engineering are complemented by superior craftsmanship, capabilities in developing innovative solutions and the ability to effectively manage and complete client projects. Our team has extensive experience working with structural engineers, architects and other design specialists to provide a turn-key approach to projects of any size.

Jennifer Simons, President

Jennifer joined UBER in 2015 with the desire to build and lead a team to become the most sought after masonry restoration contractor in the DC metropolitan area. Her “Passion for Preservation” and dedication to client and employee satisfaction make for a winning combination to build a competent, skillful and dependable restoration company.  The growth plan for UBER is strong, but also calculated. With the company’s support and sponsorship of various associations, Jennifer is a believer that engagement with other passionate individuals in this industry will lead to a business full of mutually rewarding opportunities and successes.

Jennifer obtained her degree of Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the State University of New York at Buffalo, in the hometown where she grew up.

Alexandra (Alex) Paolucci-Herbert, Estimator/Project Manager

Alexandra has 27 years of experience in construction project development and management. Prior to joining UBER, Alexandra held project management positions with Atlantic Refinishing & Restoration, Inc. and AVSmoot, LLC. Her expertise in procurement and management of significant restoration projects is evidenced by her work on institutional and commercial buildings. Some of her favorite projects with UBER include: the rostral columns at Union Station, the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History, and the Patterson Mansion.

Thane Timbers, Estimator

Thane has 12 years of experience in construction management and estimating, with noted expertise in planning and executing large scale brick and stone masonry projects. Prior to joining UBER he held positions as superintendent, project manager and masonry estimator with Miller Brothers, Inc., Paul Davis Restoration and Calvert Masonry. Thane provides UBER and its customers with outstanding skills in collaborative project planning, cost-effective budgeting and scheduling and effective project management from start to finish.

James Davis, Estimator

With a wide-ranging background in general construction and engineering, and focused experience in all aspects of building envelope work, Jim Davis provides key leadership for UBER. Prior to UBER Jim held positions with G&F Associates, Faulke Construction and United Masonry, Inc. of Virginia. He has participated in numerous key projects, including Alice Del School, Potomac Hospital, GWU renovations, INOVA Hospital, Gallery Square, Ross School, as well as a number of GSA renovations.

Jon Schulte, Senior Project Manager

Jon has worked in the commercial construction industry since 1985, progressing in his career from field worker to superintendent to project manager. He has a clear understanding of all phases of the construction process, having expertise in project scheduling, controls, documentation and analysis for mitigation of potential conditions that could adversely affect construction progress. He has extensive experience interacting effectively with owners, architects and construction trades. Since working for UBER, Jon has expertly overseen several notable large-scale projects, including the Laurel Hill Adaptive Reuse Project, 1785 Massachusetts Avenue, and the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History.


  

Eric Deitz, Project Manager

Eric has 3 years of experience in the construction industry with a focus on masonry. He obtained his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in historic preservation from Roger Williams University in Bristol, Rhode Island, and has developed an understanding of project management at all stages of construction, including start-up documents, scheduling and planning throughout the job. Currently, Eric is managing the Columbia Place Apartments and Hotel projects which include restoration work in 8 historic buildings as well as new masonry work. Additionally, Eric managed a stone restoration and cleaning project at 908 King Street in Old Town Alexandria.

Kevin Berkoski, Project Coordinator

Kevin Berkoski has over 7 years of experience in the masonry construction business, with expertise in coordinating projects from initial design, planning, estimating, scheduling, through completion. He brings skills and experience in interacting with and managing tradesmen and subcontractors, ensuring that work schedules are met and project objectives are successfully reached.

  

Sara Johnson, Project Coordinator

Sara has 6 years of experience in historic preservation in both project management and hands-on conservation. At UBER, Sara serves as project coordinator and participates in all phases of project planning, management, and closeout. She also performs analysis of historic mortars at UBER’s in-house mortar lab. At UBER, Sara has worked on a number of masonry restoration projects for private and public clients including the USS Maine Monument in Arlington National Cemetery, Rostral Columns at Union Station, and the Smithsonian Museum of American History.

Sara has a Bachelor’s degree in historic preservation from College of Charleston and a Master’s degree in historic preservation from University of Pennsylvania.

Garrett Coady, Project Coordinator

Garrett has an M.A. in Public History from Central Connecticut State University where he studied historic preservation. Garrett interned for UBER during the summer of 2016 where his academic knowledge was honed through hands-on historic masonry restoration work. Schooled in traditional project management as an intern, Garrett returned to the company as a Project Coordinator after graduation. After years of education, experience, and valuable extracurricular activity, Garrett slid seamlessly into UBER’s management staff where he currently oversees a three-building restoration project at Virginia Tech University.

Hannah Miller, Junior Project Coordinator

Hannah began as a summer intern with UBER in May of 2016 after graduating from Snow College in Ephraim, Utah. She has since been promoted to ‘Junior Project Coordinator’ and divides her time between managing projects and attending the University of Mary Washington, where she is scheduled to complete their Historic Preservation program. Some of Hannah’s past work includes the Historic Smokehouse at Summit Hall Farm, the SERC Mansion Ruins and the Village C Dormitory at Georgetown University.

JD Stenner, Superintendent

JD has over 30 years of experience in masonry and became a Master Stone Mason during his 26 years as a union craftsman. He has developed exceptional masonry skills, including reproduction of brick and stone architectural details on significant restoration and renovation projects, including the Sidney Yates Building (GSA), AAMC Headquarters and Hubbard Hall (USNA). On masonry projects of any scale, JD grooms and trains crews to replicate his talent in the field.

Porfirio Munoz, Superintendent

Porfirio has over 20 years of experience in the masonry industry. Beginning in San Marcos, Guatemala, he studied at the Spencer W. Kimball Institute of Technology until 1994. In 1995, Porfirio began work as a masonry laborer in Manassas, Virginia, and was promoted to a foreman three years later. This past year, in 2016, UBER elected Porfirio to be a superintendent, which is his role today. Porfirio divides his time between all of UBER’s busy jobsites and uses his advanced technical experience to direct and advise all of our foremen.
